Not in School Holidays

Fran Sawtell our Youth Ministry Co-ordinator and Vikas Velugu our Minister for Youth, Children and Families, support the youth who come into our Church and Centre.
We have a team who run Holiday Programmes through the Church and many youth are employed in the Centre Holiday Programmes too. (See YADS sub-menu)
Youth are encouraged to give back to their community, with leadership opportunities and outreach projects. We particularly enjoy dance within the Church and the development of our S.H.A.Y.D.Z Dance School, headed by two 16 year olds girls, is something we are very proud of.
We run workshops for parents to help them stay informed of social issues that impact the youth of today. These are run by our Centre.
We work to meet the parents needs by running S.H.A.Y.P. (St.Heliers Association of Youth Parents) meetings to network and discuss the future of our youth within our Church and Centre.
The Youth of St.Heliers support the 40hr Famine Appeal and CWS projects, March 06 saw a speaker from Trade Aid bringing in Fair Trade products to sell. The final outcome has been our Church and Centre having a FAIR TRADE STAMP with all beverages now being served having a being bought from Fair Trade resources.
We sponsor a boy and girl from Bangladesh, through Every Home For Christ. Our Youth Group and Sunday morning programmes provide the donations..
Each Christmas our Youth participate in the Auckland City Mission Campaign.
From 1915 to today the pattern of outreach is clear here at St.Heliers Church.
Through activities and programmes we encourage youth to become a part of our Church Family.
We attract dedicated leadership and encourage our members to make well informed choices for their lives, based on Christian knowledge and values. |
