MUSOS GROUP  Saturday 10-11am.......who lead singing in the 9am services are looking for new members to join them for the coming term.  Please contact Doug Nyce if you are interested.  We're looking for singers and instrumentalists.    The commitment to lead involves singing two Sundays per month  (we split into two Musos groups to facilitate this).  The group leading each week usually rehearse for one hour on a Saturday morning at 10am prior to the Sunday on which they lead.

COMBINED ARTY CRAFTY GROUP :   Next meeting Wednesday 18 June 9.30am at the Church.   All welcome.  Our group continues to meet monthly and enjoy times of fellowship. It has been an enjoyable year and we are proud of the contribution we have been able to make to the church and community. Some of the areas where we have been able to assist with donations, from funds raised at our Christmas sales table, are:- The Youth Group, Music Committee, Church flowers, Russian family, Church camp, Church library and Kids' day camp. IDEAS EXPLOSION:  14-17 July 9am-4pm.  Production Concert Thursday 7pm.
A 4 day programme in performance and design.  Work in groups over the 4 days to produce and present a concert on the 17th.  Open to all 7-15 years.   Led by Rev Pauline Stewart and heaps of great tutors.  Talent Show each day.  Bring along your musical instruments, favourite music and a CAN-Do attitude.  Cost $140.  2nd child $120.

This Sunday: 6 July:  It’s wonderful having Chris and Betty Archer back to visit from Hawera for one Sunday – 6th July!! Get together with them at the manse after the 10.30am service for a soup n rolls lunch. Everyone is welcome. Bring something to contribute.

Tea Party @ Church which was held for the first time in June and was a wonderful time - it will now be offered to families on the fourth Sunday of every month.  The next Tea Party @ Church will be Sunday 27th July, 4.30pm –6.00pm

COMMUNION
2nd Sunday of every month - Family communion is very important in our life at St Heliers and this is part of both worship services on the second Sunday of every month.  Children are welcome to take communion as long as their parents agree and we have lessons on the meaning of Communion as part of their Sunday morning Christian Education.

Last Sunday of the month.  Informal communion - contemplative

TUESDAY COMMUNION SERVICE
Quiet reflective, sharing & discussion.  Commences March 6th (Runs during school term)

This happens once a month.  People coming to Church or coming from Church enjoy the Sunday Cafe 9.45am onwards.  Tea and coffee are free.  All food items $2 each

BAPTISM
We are a church who pratices Baptisms for babies as well as adults and the Baptism is generally part of the morning worship services 9.00 or 10.30am services.  This is a wonderful act of commitment by the congregation, parents and family.  Preparation sessions for Baptism are offered by this Church.  Contact the Minister Rev. Pauline Stewart 5756098 for an appointment.

ST HELIERS CHURCH CHOIR
Under the directorship of Doug Nyce, this choir brings excellent music to special events as well as the regular 10.30am Sunday worship service.  For Christmas & Easter, extra members may joinfore the season.  We love to sing.  Those who cannot read music are welcome and should not feel disadvantaged.  Please see the Easter news about the upcoming Oratorio for Easter.

NO PARKING ZONE: To improve traffic flow, the drive-through in front of the Church entrance and offices is now designated as a NO PARKING ZONE (Short term drop-off and pick-up only, please).

NON-PERISHABLE FOOD brought along each week, placed in the wicker basket in the foyer and dedicated with our offering is given to the Glen Innes Food Bank.  Sunday 17th December is the last day for donations to Glen Innes Food Bank as the CAB is closed for Christmas.  It will re-open on 9th Jan
uary, so food can be donated again then.

GARDENING –We need a group of people who could spend one or two hours, once a month tending the garden areas around the Church.      Youth & Young Adults 5/31/2008  
FRIDAY NIGHT FRIEND-ZY 
Friday night event for school years 5,6,7 and 8 (but you must be ten years old!!)
6.30pm-9.00pm every Friday night.  
This is a combined church/community centre programme.
Parents must commit to assist one Friday night in 6.
The emphasis will be on developing leadership, commitment to service and building friendships across schools.  Christian vlaues will underlay all programmes.
Those who are not parents are needed to help also.   Please apply, no age limit.  Young people can sign up today.
Cost: $5 (maximum for a family is $10).

TEEN TEAM NEWS:   Years 6-9 inclusive     Meet downstairs on Sunday mornings
Youth helpers age 10+ wanted: Kids Club terms 2&3.
Performance Group for young people & children - singing and aspects of performing - rehearsing a small musical for presentation. Would you like to learn about this and actually get to do it? Every Tuesday afternoon 4.15- 5.30 pm starting May 1st. - At church - Led by Rev Pauline Stewart. Terms 2 and 3 only    Register with church office 575 6098.

YAdS is a group organized by, run by members of the group, with guidance from Reverend Pauline Stewart, and Youth Leaders - Vikas Velugu and Fran Sawtell. 

We will meet every Sunday at the church from 6-8pm. Between 6-7pm there will be a simple but filling meal available for a small donation, and this will be time for games, discussion etc and generally enjoying the company of others. At 7pm we will begin our time of youth oriented worship, led by members of the group.   The programme will nurture our Young Peoples’ Christian faith and leadership.
Guest speakers, music, projects, outings and a wide variety of other activities will ensure that these will be evenings our young people will enjoy and will want to bring their friends to.
Remember – a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet – so don’t be afraid to come alone!
